Meet Our Team
Ashley Outlaw
Owner/Director
Hello everyone! My name is Ashley Outlaw, and I am excited to start this new adventure and meet all of you in person. I wanted to provide a little information about myself, so you can get to know me as the director. I have been living in Stafford County with my husband for eight years. I have two children, Evan Jr. and Jordan. I also have two cats, Knuckles and Miles (named after Sonic characters).
Growing up, I had decided at a young age that I wanted to work in education. After completing my undergrad at King’s College with a double major in early childhood/elementary education, I began my working career at various different daycares up in Pennsylvania where I had lived most of my life. At the time, this was a temporary path leading to working in a school district. This led me to a move down to Virginia and a full-time teaching position in Prince William County, where I spent nine years at the same elementary school in various different roles and grade levels.
Professionally, I have worked with every grade level in elementary education. I have been a lead ESOL teacher and worked with special needs students throughout my career. I have a master’s degree from George Mason University in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on reading, and I also have a reading specialist certification. I feel that I have the proper qualifications and determination to help young learners discover ways to learn from all parts of their lives, as any time is a great time to learn something new. I look forward to working with your children to help them grow in confidence to be successful in all aspects or their education.
Odette Johnson
Lead Teacher
Hello! My name is Odette Johnson, and I was born on the beautiful island of Jamaica. My family is a military family, which brought us to Spotsylvania, Virginia. I am a proud wife and mother of two, and I love being part of this community.
I hold a degree in Early Childhood Education and am a proud team member of LIL Discoverers learning center. I am excited to get to know each child as an individual—their name, personality, and unique qualities. I am passionate about creating a joyful and supportive environment where every child feels valued, encouraged, and inspired to explore.
I look forward to supporting their growth, learning, and exploration in a nurturing and caring environment.

I am from a military family and have lived all over the east coast, but majority in the south. I have family in Puerto Rico and visit often.
I got into education because I told myself I want to be that teacher the children remember and want to visit later in life. I want to make a difference in their lives and help them be successful.

I got into education because of helping with my little brother and wanting to make a difference in children's lives. I pursued this career in thanks to my employment class in high school. It allowed me to get hands on experience in early education. My top priority is the children's safety and wanting to make sure they are comfortable in their environment.
Karen Newton
Substitute/Floater
Hello! My name is Karen Newton. I worked in a daycare for 5 years, then I worked in education for 20 years before retiring 3 years ago.
My husband and I live in Spotsylvania. We moved from PA when my husband's company opened a terminal in Manassas so that we could be closer to our grandchildren.
Working with children is something I have always enjoyed. It makes me feel young at heart, and I enjoy watching them grow into inspiring, independent boys and girls who get excited with their accomplishments.
